About Our Staff

My name is Karen Hudgins and I started my career in Human Resources Management shortly after college in New England. Working my way up the ladder as an HR Generalist eventually found myself relocating to Northern Virginia in 1998 to implement standard HR procedures for a recently acquired organization. I moved on to a few government contractors and eventually consulting and developing HR departments. Simultaneously, I also began a home-based business with a leading cosmetic organization and realized if I "worked as hard for myself as my employer" I could really fly. So with a huge step of faith, walked away from corporate America and pursued my own business. After a few cars, and few diamond rings, went back to "work" simply to have extra money to pay for my son's pre-school.
That is when I fell in love with designing benefit plans for businesses.
I started New Hope Benefits & Consulting on the idea that businesses need a fresh perspective on their employee benefit programs that goes beyond basic health and dental coverage. There are more effective ways of ensuring employees are educated and find value from the programs their employer offers. We take an honest approach: if you are in a good place, we will let you know!!
I am happily married to Jeff for 16 years and two wonderful children. We are all heavily involved in our church, Journey Christian Church and our family has a passion for serving others. I have ventured to Honduras in 2013, 2014 & 2019; Jeff has served in Haiti in 2016 & 2017. Our family serves at Lighthouse Family Retreats (www.lighthousefamilyretreat.org) serving families living through childhood cancer.

Timothy joined New Hope in March 2019. Previously he was an intern with Wells Fargo Insurance, later acquired by USI Insurance Services. He attends college at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Daniel has been working with New Hope Benefits since August 2017. Daniel attends school at Virginia Commonwealth University.
